A Cultural Survey of Tribal Discrimination in Japan from a Religious Perspective
Abstract: Discrimination is a derivative of class differentiation in the process of civilization. In some parts of Japan today, there is still discrimination against tribal people (Descendants of the Dalit in the past ). The vast majority of Dalits are the declining people who appeared in the Edo era among the poor peasants and local urban poor in Japan, mainly including Kegare and Hininn . After the Meiji Restoration, especially after World War II, with the development of Japanese society and the improvement of human rights awareness, although the legal status of tribal people is no different from that of other ordinary people, their social status can not be accepted by other Japanese. Tribal discrimination is an intolerable insult that harms the root cause of human spirit. There are multiple explanations for the formation of discrimination among Japanese tribal peoples. From a religious perspective, discrimination among Japanese tribal peoples is mainly influenced by the impure thoughts of Buddhism and the filthy thoughts of Shinto, while from a sociological perspective, tribal peoples are the product of a hierarchical system. Starting from the impact of religion on the behavior of Japanese, analyzing the cultural reasons for the formation of discrimination among tribal people in Japanese society has a reference value for understanding the social structure of Japan.
