From Cultural Differences to Institutional Discrimination: Analyzing Barriers to Social Integration for Chinese Canadians

Abstract: IIn the modern society characterized by globalization and multicultural coexistence, racial discrimination and cultural prejudice remain prevalent, significantly hindering the social integration and development of ethnic minorities. This study focuses on the Chinese immigrant community in Canada, conducting an in-depth analysis of the systemic discrimination they face in critical areas such as the workplace, education, and housing. The study uncovers the deep-rooted causes, including cultural differences, racial bias, social structural inequalities, and historical policies. By proposing strategies such as multicultural education, the enhancement of anti-discrimination laws, strengthening community support, and adjusting public opinion and economic policies, this research aims to eliminate discrimination at the institutional level, safeguard the legal rights of Chinese immigrants, and promote their social integration. The findings reveal that these systemic changes not only help reduce instances of discrimination but also provide a solid theoretical foundation and practical pathway for achieving social equity and harmony.
