Cultural Challenges and Discrimination: Understanding Barriers to the Integration of Chinese Immigrants in Canada

摘要: 全球化与多元文化并存的现代社会中,种族歧视与文化偏见依然广泛存在,严重影响少数族裔的社会融入与发展。以加拿大华人群体为例,职场、教育及住房等关键领域中系统性歧视问题凸显,背后的原因涵盖文化差异、种族偏见、社会结构不公与历史政策等多层次因素。通过多元文化教育的推行、完善反歧视法律、强化社区支持,以及调整舆论与经济政策等措施,能够从制度层面消除歧视现象,保障华人群体的合法权益,促进其社会融入。这些系统性变革不仅有助于减少歧视,更为实现社会公平与和谐提供了坚实的理论基础与实践路径。

Abstract: In modern society characterized by globalization and multicultural coexistence, racial discrimination and cultural prejudice remain prevalent, significantly hindering the social integration and development of ethnic minorities. Taking the Chinese community in Canada as an example, systemic discrimination is prominent in key areas such as employment, education, and housing. The underlying causes are multifaceted, including cultural differences, racial bias, social structural inequalities, and historical policies. By promoting multicultural education, improving anti-discrimination laws, strengthening community support, and adjusting public opinion and economic policies, discrimination can be eliminated at the institutional level, safeguarding the legal rights of Chinese immigrants and facilitating their social integration. These systemic changes not only help reduce discrimination but also provide a solid theoretical foundation and practical pathways for achieving social equity and harmony.
